We are a growing, enthusiastic group of people who recently completed building a cohousing community in a lovely, older neighborhood of North Portland, Oregon. We are individuals, couples and families of varied backgrounds and ages - from a few months old to 70 plus - who live in a community where we know each other like extended family, while our personal needs for privacy and independence are honored.
We are very, very excited! WE ARE SETTLING IN!!! Almost half the community is now in residence. With more coming. And we have many more community members participating in our activities. Two-to-three community meals a week. Work parties. Informal gatherings. And more!
Come meet us! We are actively seeking new community members. We still have some homes available!
Part of the Daybreak community at our Ground blessing ceremony
Members of Daybreak Cohousing feel a sense of belonging—of community—that’s come from working together to make our dream a reality. We foster a supportive environment that allows us to live our personal and spiritual values. Because we care deeply about the environment, we incorporate environmentally sustainable practices in construction, our community, and in our day-to-day living.
Daybreak Cohousing is a dense, urban village with a physical design that encourages social interaction while respecting personal needs for private space. Our homes have most of the features of conventional homes, and we also enjoy extensive common facilities. Come meet us! We are actively seeking new community members. We still have some homes available. We invite you to attend our informal socials to get to know us and tour the community and homes. Socials are scheduled twice a month, the first Sunday and the third Thursday of the month. Dates are listed regularly on this website. You also can ask to be put on our mailing list for e-mail reminders of dates and locations. We look forward to meeting you soon!
